On October 6, 2024, Benha National University participated in a medical awareness caravan in Kom Ashfin Village, Kalyob Center, in collaboration with the Hayat Karima Foundation. This initiative is part of the university's ongoing efforts to participate in presidential initiatives aimed at improving healthcare in remote areas and underserved villages.
Professor Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, emphasized the importance of participating in these initiatives and the "Hayat Karima" caravans, which aim to enhance living standards in rural villages across Egypt by providing various services, including healthcare and awareness campaigns. The initiative also offers direct support to residents, providing free medical examinations and treatment. It seeks to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development and is part of national efforts to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life in these areas. Over 85 patients received free medical consultations in various specialties such as internal medicine, pediatrics, and surgery. Appropriate treatments were determined by a team of specialized doctors who volunteered for the caravan.
Prof. Tamer Samir noted that the caravan did not only provide medical services but also included free treatment and medications for all patients examined, reflecting the university's commitment to improving healthcare in local communities.
In conjunction with the celebration of the glorious October victories, university students organized recreational activities for children, such as coloring competitions, distributing drawing and coloring tools, and engaging children in painting national symbols. This provided an opportunity for children to enjoy themselves while fostering a sense of citizenship and love for their country.
The university president highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the glorious October victories, which are essential for enhancing national belonging and developing historical awareness among children. This awareness aims to inform children about the heroism of the Egyptian army in the 1973 war and the role of these victories in restoring national dignity and liberating the land. Through activities and seminars that narrate the stories of heroes and detail planning and sacrifice, children are encouraged to understand the significance of solidarity and teamwork in achieving national goals. This awareness also helps instill national values, deepen love for the homeland, and enhance awareness of the challenges the country has faced to maintain its sovereignty and independence.
Professor Mahmoud Shakl, Vice President for Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, emphasized the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and the local community, praising the effective role of the Hayat Karima Foundation in supporting such initiatives that benefit the community.
Additionally, Professor Ayman Samir, Dean of Veterinary Medicine College, stated that Benha National University will continue to provide community services and enhance health and cultural awareness in various regions, contributing to building a healthier and more aware society.
