The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology announces the start of accepting research proposals for the years 2026/2027 under the Egyptian-French scientific cooperation program (Imhotep), which is implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology handles the administrative tasks of the program on the Egyptian side, while the French agency "Campus France" manages the administrative tasks on the French side. This program will run for 24 months, and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology will fund each project with an amount of 300,000 EGP annually.
The program will include several fields, including:
- Water:(sanitation, desalination, irrigation)
- Environment:(new and renewable energy, hydrogen fuel cells, electric vehicle batteries)
- Health, Biology, and Medicine:(using biotechnology to produce enzymes, advanced diagnostic techniques for hepatitis C)
- Mathematics and its interactions
- Physics
- Earth and Space Sciences
- Chemistry
- Human and Social Sciences
- Community Sciences:(tourism and education)
- Engineering Sciences:(importance for energy projects)
- Information and Communication Technology:(multimedia)
- Agriculture and Animal and Vegetable Production:(crop production)
Researchers wishing to participate in the program should register electronically through the official website of the Academy via the following link: ASRT Open Calls.
Please note that the principal investigator and the alternate investigator of the research team must belong to the same university or research center. Other team members can belong to different institutions. Accredited private universities in the Arab Republic of Egypt are also allowed to apply according to this announcement, just like public universities. The deadline for submitting research proposals is April 15, 2025. If the proposal is approved for inclusion in the aforementioned program, the principal investigator and the research entity will be notified.
