Benha National University Launched “Choose Your Life” Program to Protect Youth from Smoking and Drugs

Under the auspices of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Mahmoud Shakl, Vice President of the University for Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, the university launched a training program in collaboration with the Drug Control Fund, titled “Choose Your Life.”

The program aims to prepare youth capable of opposing addiction and raising awareness of its health, psychological, and social risks. The training includes life skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, family relationships, resisting peer pressure, and self-expression. It also includes interactive workshops and informational sessions on types of drugs, their harms, and correcting misconceptions about them.

Prof. Mohamed Siraj, Dean of the College of Physical Therapy, and Prof. Marwa Sabry from the Drug Control Fund attended the training. The training content covered the triggers that lead to addiction, the impact of drugs on mental and physical health, and the latest emerging types of drugs and their risks. It also focused on developing the skills necessary to resist social pressures and enhance positive values such as self-respect, responsibility, making correct decisions, and properly dealing with negative emotions.

Prof. Tamer Samir emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the risks of addiction due to its negative impact on individuals and society, stressing the university's commitment to providing such training to protect students.

Pro. Mahmoud Shakl pointed to the ongoing support for university students through awareness programs and workshops to help them avoid these risks.

This program is a significant step in preparing a generation of volunteers capable of spreading awareness and contributing to the fight against addiction within the community.
