Benha National University Organizes Field Visit to Promote Autism Awareness and Social Inclusion

Benha National University organized a field visit to a Psychological Support Center under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of the University, as part of its observance of World Autism Awareness Day. The initiative aimed to raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder and support efforts to advance the social inclusion of children with autism and their families.

The visit was attended by Prof. Mahmoud Shakal, Vice President for Employment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and included the participation of students from the Faculty of Visual Arts, who conducted a series of art workshops and activities designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to foster creativity and encourage positive engagement.

The program included a tour of the center’s facilities, where participants were introduced to its psychological support rooms, rehabilitation programs, group activities, special needs unit, and assessment and speech therapy services, providing insight into the center’s operating model and the range of support it offers.

The visit also featured an awareness seminar for parents on approaches to the early identification of Autism Spectrum Disorder, in addition to a psychodrama performance entitled Understand Me Before You Judge Me, which was met with strong engagement from attendees.

Participants discussed ways in which Benha National University can further support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, their families, and the professionals involved in their care, with the aim of enhancing service quality and expanding opportunities for meaningful social inclusion.

The visit reaffirmed Benha National University’s commitment to promoting awareness, acceptance, and inclusive values, reflecting its broader dedication to social responsibility and support for persons with special needs.
