Benha National University Engineering Students Earn Top Honors at the Second Industry Innovators Hackathon at Creativa Benha

Students from Benha National University’s Faculty of Engineering achieved outstanding results at the second edition of the Industry Innovators Hackathon, held at Creativa Innovation Hub Benha under the theme “Artificial Intelligence Driving the Future of Industry.” Competing against 56 teams from universities across Egypt, the University’s students secured second and third place with innovative engineering solutions that combined practical impact with advanced artificial intelligence applications.

Supported by Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Hussein El Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University participated with six projects developed under the academic leadership of Prof. Mahmoud El-Refaie, Director of Programs, Faculty of Engineering.

Four teams advanced to the competition’s later stages, and three projects were selected for the final presentations, which featured 24 of the hackathon’s strongest entries. Two Benha National University teams ultimately earned top placements, underscoring the students’ ability to transform engineering knowledge into innovative, application-oriented solutions that address real-world challenges and support digital transformation.

The RoboVest team earned Second Place for developing a smart wearable vest designed to enhance martial arts training through real-time analysis of strike force, location, and accuracy. The team comprised Seifallah Wael Hassan Ahmed, Shahd Ahmed Mahboub, and Mohamed Ahmed Qassem.

The Re-Move team received Third Place for designing a wearable upper-limb rehabilitation device that enables patients to continue prescribed physical therapy at home through a mobile application featuring an AI-powered chatbot. The team included Nahed Tamer, Mina Bahgat, Giovanni El-Amir, Youssef Walid, Marina George, and Mohamed Alaa.

The projects were mentored by Prof. Dina El-Naggar as part of the Faculty of Engineering’s ongoing efforts to strengthen students’ practical skills and encourage the development of innovative, market-ready solutions that advance entrepreneurship and digital transformation.

The Industry Innovators Hackathon supports AI-driven technologies aimed at addressing industrial challenges and transforming innovative ideas into practical prototypes that enhance productivity and improve manufacturing processes across a wide range of sectors.
