Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Veterinary Medicine Programme organised a field and practical training visit for its students to a specialised institution providing care and treatment for companion animals. The visit forms part of the University’s commitment to connecting academic study with practical application and the needs of the labour market.
Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, emphasised that practical training is a key priority within the University’s educational approach, reflecting the importance of providing students with genuine opportunities to engage with professional environments and gain first hand insight into specialised practices. This enables students to apply their academic knowledge in practical situations and supports the preparation of graduates equipped with the skills required by the labour market.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, noted that linking education with professional practice is a fundamental component of academic programme development. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to providing high quality training opportunities that enable students to gain practical experience and develop a clear understanding of professional practice, strengthening their career readiness from the early stages of their studies.
Prof. Ahmed Hassan, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Programme, explained that the visit gave students the opportunity to gain practical insight into the procedures for receiving cases and emergencies, examining companion animals, and carrying out veterinary surgery, as well as to learn about common diseases, medications, vaccination programmes and preventive care.
At the conclusion of the visit, the students expressed their appreciation for the value of field visits in strengthening the practical dimension of their studies and providing an opportunity to gain first hand insight into the nature of veterinary practice and the professional practices followed in the field.
