Benha National University participated in a consultation session organised by the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) to discuss the future of telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, as part of the preparatory sessions for Egypt Forum 2026, scheduled to take place from 19 to 24 October.
The University was represented by Prof. Mahmoud El Refay, Director of Programmes at the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Eman Abdel Ghaffar, Director of Programmes at the Faculty of Computer Science.
The session provided an opportunity to gather perspectives from academics, experts and specialists on the key challenges and opportunities associated with developing digital infrastructure, data centres, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Discussions also addressed the development of specialised talent, bridging the digital skills gap, and strengthening integration between academic institutions, relevant stakeholders and industry.
Participants considered proposals to build digital capabilities, advance applied scientific research, strengthen cooperation between universities and industry, and develop national solutions in advanced technologies. These priorities are intended to keep pace with rapid developments in telecommunications and information technology and support Egypt’s digital transformation.
Benha National University’s participation reflects its commitment to fostering scientific dialogue, facilitating the exchange of academic and practical expertise, and contributing to discussions on technology priorities of national importance. It also reinforces the University’s focus on aligning academic programmes with labour market needs and the demands of sustainable development.
