Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and Prof. Hussein El Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University organised a practical field visit for students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to Obour Farm for Agricultural Investment and Animal Production. The visit forms part of the University’s commitment to strengthening hands on training, linking academic study with labour market needs, and equipping students with essential professional experience.
Prof. Tamer Samir emphasised that practical training is fundamental to preparing qualified graduates with sound scientific knowledge and professional skills. He highlighted the University’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with production sector institutions and providing students with genuine training opportunities that foster innovation, prepare them to meet evolving labour-market demands, and enable them to contribute to the national economy.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby noted that field visits help students translate theoretical knowledge into practical application while developing the experience and skills needed to navigate different professional environments. He also reaffirmed the University’s commitment to advancing its education and training systems in line with scientific and technological developments.
The visit was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed Hassan Khalil, Director of Programmes at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as part of the Faculty’s ongoing programme of field based training. These activities aim to refine students’ practical skills, strengthen their professional readiness, and prepare highly competent veterinary professionals who can respond to changing labour market needs and contribute to the development of Egypt’s livestock sector.
The programme offered students first-hand insight into the farm’s day to day operations, including animal health and veterinary care practices, breeding programmes, herd management, and newborn animal care. Students also explored the digital applications and data systems used to monitor production performance and improve the efficiency of livestock production.
